Risk Director
This project involved leading a team of risk professionals responsible for monitoring and analysing the organisation’s risk exposure on both day-to-day and long term bases.
creative GAAPS was engaged to provide an creative manager to undertake the following key deliverables for the assignment.
- Define, develop, implement and maintain a Life business risk framework.
- Ensure that all Market, Credit, Operational and Insurance risks are identified, appropriately measured and reported in a timely and complete manner.
- Ensure that all such risks are communicated and managed according to risk framework and policies, including the setting of risk limits and guidelines according to risk appetite and investment mandates.
- Ensure that risk management processes and practices are aligned with good industry practices.
- To ensure that business processes for the Life risk department are efficiently designed, operated and reviewed with respect to the changing external environment.
- Provide significant input and influence the infrastructure for controlling and managing risks for the business.
- Ensure overall compliance by the business with the application of regulatory requirements and risk policies and principles
- Provide consultancy to the business areas where requested and represent the department or the organisation on internal and external forum as required
- To be aware of cost and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness of risk practices and processes.
- Support the Director of Market Risk in developing and executing business plans and in meeting regulatory accountabilities.
- To act as a trusted advisor to the business managers in respect of risk management issues, including review of operational plans, new business/products proposals.
- To exercise judgement in escalating significant risk issues to senior management.
- Actively direct a team/teams of risk professional in achieving risk management objectives and accountabilities.
