As a Senior Risk Actuary, your focus will be on providing risk insight to key stakeholders on Life insurance topics, including carrying out targeted 2nd line reviews. You will have responsibility for the delivery of actuarial services, and for governance of Risk challenge and review of Life insurance risk.
As a Senior Risk Actuary your main responsibilities will involve:
•Acting as an independent partner to the Life Technical functions, providing Risk challenge and review.
•Leading actuarial and other services to deliver independent top-down analysis and assessment of actuarial methodology and approaches, including deep dive analyses on reserves, pricing and underwriting risk.
•Participating in Life Technical decision processes, providing independent challenge as part of decision making.
•Delivering Risk challenge and review of Life Technical in accordance with Group, Regional, and Local regulatory policies, in the context of moderate to high regulatory complexity.
•Actively providing professional actuarial support and advice to the regional or global GI Chief Risk Officer and to senior management and group functions including insights into underlying performance and implications for the business
•Mentoring and developing other actuarial professionals within the department as well as providing input to or leading global training and people development initiatives
Mainly in a lovely location in Zurich within easy reach of the Centre and the Lake but with up to 25% travel requirement.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Other Sciences
•Fully qualified actuary in a globally recognized actuarial body
•Substantial experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management, etc.) and multiple Business Units
•Substantial experience in the insurance industry of which most in reserving, underwriting or risk management
•Experience of working with different national & business cultures
•Demonstrated ability to work with high level of Actuarial authority
•Strong focus on execution and delivery
•Strategic ability combined with sound operational skills
•Ability to support change, displaying both persistence and resilience
•Problem-solving, decision-making and judgment skills
•Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
•Fluent English, both oral and written
Additional Information Primary work location is Zürich. The travel requirement is up to 25%
